Long ago, as a young woman flirting on the edges of the art community, Lolaji was then known as Lola Granola. She made wonderfully rich granola and dressed everything in rainbows.
Age and maturity brought the desire to step into a more respectable role and put aside her girlish nom de plume. The name Lolaji still held the permission she sought to allow her artistic (or crafty) side to flourish as the suffix "ji" (pronouced "g") in Hindi is used as a mark of respect. Lola G became Lolaji.
She travelled to India where chai is a part of everyday culture. Wonderful memories of hot (110-120 degrees) days in open cafes, sitting on benches, with the thwap, thwap, thwap of the overhead fans lingered in her mind. Ah! sweet memories of chai served with buffalo milk floating atop the fragrant, dark, rich color of the tea. Oh, and the biscuits. She loved the tea biscuits; a sort of unsweetened palmier.
And so chai became a part of Lolaji's everyday culture. She has brought it to you here for your enjoyment! Each batch is handcrafted with care . . . to be continued
